Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

We are searching for a skilled heavy equipment operator to utilize our industrial gear. Heavy equipment operators handle motorized apparatus such as bulldozers, excavator, track Loader, Volvo and cranes. The heavy equipment operator's duties include preparing and manipulating heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials and liaising with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed accurately. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times.

Job Duties:

  • Safely operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers, and other heavy equipment
  • Excavate trenches for utility installation with precision
  • Assist crews in storm, water, and sewer pipe installation
  • Always follow site safety protocols
  • Maneuvering heavy motorized equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
  • Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
  • Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
  • Always observing stipulated safety codes.
  • Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed.
  • Reporting injuries and other accidents to the Foreman and Job Superintendent.
  • Examine schedules for the day and establishes the best way of completing given task
  • Advising the Foreman of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
  • Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
  • Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a huge plus.
  • 2+ years of construction experience.
  • Knowledge in usage of GPS is a plus
  • Ability to read grade stakes and follow layout plans
  • Knowledge of trench safety and OSHA regulations
  • Strong work ethic and team mindset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • GED/high school diploma or related work experience.
  • Trade school or prior experience operating a variety heavy equipment a plus.
  • On-the-job training offered.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment/materials up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Capacity to provide and follow direction.
  • Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
