Pipefitter Job Description

The Pipefitter is responsible for measuring, cutting, fabricating, and installing pipe systems for shipbuilding, marine, and industrial projects. This role requires proficiency in blueprint reading, layout, and assembly of piping systems to ensure safe and reliable operations.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping diagrams.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required specifications using hand and power tools.
  • Install pipe systems, supports, and fixtures in alignment with project requirements.
  • Test piping systems for leaks using hydrostatic or pneumatic testing methods.
  • Fabricate templates, make field adjustments, and ensure accuracy of pipe runs.
  • Work closely with welders to assemble and fit piping systems.
