Job Description: Pipe Fitter

Position Title: Pipe Fitter

Location: Birmingham, AL

Department: Mechanical Construction

Reports To: Piping Superintendent / Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Pipe Fitter to join our mechanical construction team. The Pipe Fitter is responsible for fitting carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping systems for commercial and industrial construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience producing high-quality product that meet industry standards, project specifications, and applicable codes while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and craftsmanship.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret isometric drawings, blueprints, P&IDs, and project specifications.
  • Prepare pipe joints by cutting, beveling, fitting, aligning, and tack welding materials.
  • Ability to fit-up, fabricate, and the installation of piping systems.
  • Familiar with standard Pipe Fitting formulas for fittings and offsets.
  • Ability to lead a piping crew and maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and all applicable welding procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial or industrial pipe fitting experience preferred.
  • Ability to read isometric drawings, blueprints
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with pressure piping, chilled water, steam, hydronic, or process piping systems.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, or manufacturing construction projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, respirator (when required), gloves, and protective clothing.
