Joseph J. Magnolia (“JJM”) is currently seeking experienced Pipelayers to join our Site Utility team in Hyattsville, MD. This role involves installing and repairing underground water, storm water, and sewer piping systems for main lines and service laterals throughout the DC Metropolitan area. Magnolia provides flagging/traffic control and confined space training for qualified employees.


This work is performed outdoors year-round, and candidates must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions. JJM offers steady, long-term work opportunities throughout the region.

Requirements:


Responsibilities:

  • Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Operate laser beam equipment for pipe alignment and grading.
  • Perform hand excavation and backfilling for trenching and test pitting as required.
  • Measure, cut, and connect various types and sizes of pipe.
  • Install lagging and trench support systems.
  • Perform cribbing, rigging, shoring, jacking, and unloading of structures and materials.
  • Install and erect fencing, guard rails, and asphalt spreaders as needed.
  • Install concrete thrust blocks and operate concrete vibrators.
  • Work safely and responsibly with respect for yourself, coworkers, and the public.
  • Maintain clean and organized jobsites through general cleanup duties.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of pipe laying experience, specifically within site utility construction.
  • Experience installing underground water, storm water, and sewer piping systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction tools and equipment including tampers, rammers, jackhammers, chainsaws, and other power tools.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle varying materials and pipe sizes.
  • OSHA-related certifications or safety training preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to assigned jobsites daily.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and consistent attendance.
  • Safety-focused mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
