Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Journeyman Millwright Technicians to join our team. Candidates will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, completing emergency repairs, and installing parts and upgrades as needed. This position involves heavy work in an industrial manufacturing environment. Paper mill or heavy industrial experience is highly preferred. Selected employees may be required to join a labor union after a probationary period.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Read and interpret blueprints, prints, diagrams, schematics, specifications, operating manuals, and manufacturer instructions to complete scheduled and emergency repairs

  • Safely operate material-handling equipment including chain falls, chokers, forklifts, mobile cranes, and overhead cranes

  • Complete assigned work orders, required documentation, and system data entry tasks

  • Train and mentor technicians within areas of expertise

Minimum Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment with journeyman-level experience as a Millwright, Pipefitter, or Metal Worker

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards, including LOTO, Arc Flash, Fall Protection, Hot Work, and Job Hazard Analysis

  • Basic knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Blueprint Reading

  • Experience rebuilding and installation of the following:

    • Pumps and agitators

    • Gearboxes and valves

  • Experience installing the following:

    • Roll bearings and bearing housings

    • Seals and packing

    • Sole plates, concrete, leveling, and alignment systems

    • Conveyors, tracking systems, drives, rolls, and splicing

  • Heavy rigging knowledge

  • Welding and fabrication experience

  • Industrial pipefitting experience

  • Knowledge of Preventive, Predictive, and Proactive Maintenance practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • TIG, MIG, and Stick welding experience

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and support experience (480V or less)

  • Ability to support light industrial electrical maintenance needs

Working Conditions

  • Non-climate-controlled industrial environment with temperatures ranging from 20°F to 110°F

  • Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions

  • Occasional exposure to heights, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration

  • Loud industrial work environment

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, stair/ladder climbing, and standing/walking for 8-12 hours per shift

  • Mandatory overtime may be required, including shifts up to 16 hours on occasion
