Overview:
The Welder/Pipefitter ensures the Safety of those we work with and around, the Quality of the services we provide, and the realization of our Profitability goals as it specifically relates to welding and fabricating in a variety of scenarios, in the mechanical construction of commercial buildings. You should have completed a welding apprenticeship and have at least 6 years of experience in the fabrication and pipefitting trades. You will need to be proficient in MIG welding and TIG welding.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safety management to ensure ZERO INCIDENTS within all areas of the company
  • Demonstrate the Company's Core Values individually and departmentally
  • Safely set up, use, and disassemble electric welding equipment
  • Safely set up, use, and disassemble oxy-acet cutting and welding equipment
  • Safely set up, use, and disassemble plasma arc cutting equipment
  • Welds and cuts components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions using various tools and methods
  • Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment
  • Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
  • Layout, mark, and cut pipe and structural steel using oxy-acet cutting torch, plasma cutter, and various mechanical cutting tools and equipment
  • Lay out, fit up, and secure parts and assemblies according to drawings and specifications, using multiple combinations of measuring, fitting, and alignment tools
  • Fit-up, tack, and weld piping and structural components and assemblies, using SMAW and GTAW Welding Processes with various types of metals and welding equipment
  • Pass Welder Performance Qualification Tests for Certification, on various pipe sizes, with various wall thicknesses, from various materials, in the 6G Position using the SMAW & GTAW processes
  • Consistently pass x-ray, di-penetrant, and visual weld tests, and inspections as required, ensuring conformance to specifications using SMAW & GMAW welding processes
  • Determines required equipment and welding method required to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Apply knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques as required
  • Read and understand mechanical blueprints, details, isometric drawings, welding symbols, etc.
  • Install or repair equipment related to the industry, (Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Air Separators, Expansion Tanks, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of Basic Rigging with an emphasis on Safety
  • Develop material handling plans to ensure safe, timely completion of the project
  • Additional duties as assigned by Pipefitting Superintendent

  • High integrity and ethics
  • 6+ years of welding/pipefitting experience (mechanical industry preferred)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to change, solve problems and be accountable for decisions
  • Very organized and detail-oriented
  • Denver Journeyman Steamfitter Certificate Preferred
