Job description

Pipe layer's primary function is to assist operators in laying pipe on the project at correct location and grade. The Pipe Layer's job duties are continually changing depending on the requirements of each project. Pipe layers are expected to assist in the general operation of each job site. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operating grade lasers;
  • Sealing pipe joints
  • Set up and maintenance of erosion control;
  • Loading and unloading of materials;
  • Shoveling and raking dirt, gravel, and asphalt;
  • General clean up around job site;
  • Checking and maintaining grade stakes;
  • Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids;
  • Operating small equipment such as compactors, tamps, pumps, generators and power brooms or any equipment the employee is able to operate;
  • Maintenance of all equipment and tools.

Physical Requirements:
  • The position requires periods of standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
  • Ability to climb equipment ladders to reach the operator's seat.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically.
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions and outdoor environments.

Qualifications:
  • Must be willing to work weekends as needed.
  • Previous construction or labor experience is a plus.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Team player attitude with a strong focus on safety and job quality.
