About the Role

MWH is currently seeking a VDC Engineer to join our Digital Delivery team in Phoenix, AZ.

The role of VDC Engineer supports and develops Digital Delivery practices leveraged by project teams in the office and the field, as well as supports model-based project management, virtual construction workflows, and construction technology deployments. Provide leadership to the project teams, drive project requirements, primarily focused on supporting process self-perform.

Essential Functions

  • Process/Yard Piping:
    • (intermediate) Understanding and knowledge of:
      • Best piping practices for underground, aboveground, gravity, and pressurized piping systems.
      • Piping types, schedules, connections, materials, lining, coatings, fluid services, material compatibilities, insulation
      • Equipment, piping, supports, valves, manholes, and appurtenances associated with process systems.
      • Isometric and orthographic drafting practices
      • Survey coordinate systems
      • P&IDs, Process Mechanical, and Civil/Yard Piping drawings
      • Reviewing relevant submittals for data to support the modeling effort.
      • Water/Wastewater/Industrial Waste Piping Systems
  • Concrete:
    • (intermediate) understanding and knowledge of:
      • Concrete lift drawings
      • Embeds and penetrations wall pipes and wall sleeves encasements.
      • Rebar drawings
      • Water stop, rebar, stay form, Forming Systems
  • Produce models, drawings, layouts, and sketches, of engineering designs, construction fabrications, and quantity takeoffs using BIM/CAD software. Collaborates with design professionals and project participants during the modeling, coordination, and construction processes.
  • Develop and maintain 3D model content in support of self-perform Process Systems.
  • Knowledge in developing digital parts libraries, catalogs, specifications.
  • Develop detailed construction models and produce fabrication Iso’s and & Ortho’s for Process piping systems.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and practices required.
  • Support on-site construction team efforts in the implementation of VDC/Digital Delivery applications and practices such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.
  • Educate project team on software and workflows utilized throughout the design and construction process.
  • Read and understand contract documents and drawings.
  • Participate and lead BIM-based trade coordination with project construction teams and sub-contractors.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science or higher university degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related technical degree plus 5 yrs. of related engineering or technical experience; OR MS degree in Engineering/other highly technical field plus 4 yrs. engineering/related technical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in the use of Autodesk-based Building Information Modeling (BIM) toolsets and work practices, including minimum of 4 years of professional level application experience with Revit, Plant3D, Navisworks, or similar process pipe modeling software.
  • Project scheduling familiarity covering development of baseline schedules, incorporating subcontractor schedules, schedule updating and analysis of progress, including project compliance processes and audits.
  • Experience with reality capture tools and practices (laser scanning, drone data capture, and/or point cloud generation). Experience with reality capture tools and practices (laser scanning, drone data capture, and/or point cloud generation).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and other normal business applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with customer facing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Autodesk Plant3D, Revit, Navisworks and Civil 3D software platforms.
  • Familiarity with Primavera scheduling/project management software.
  • Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 / ACC Docs applications.
  • Experience with Autodesk Assemble software.
  • Experience with CMiC construction management software.

Compensation

  • Anticipated budgeted salary for this position is set at $75,000 - $115,000 per year.
