The Pipe Fitter / Welder Helper is responsible for supporting daily shop operations by assisting with the preparation, handling, and assembly of piping materials and mechanical components. This role focuses on executing foundational tasks that keep fabrication workflows efficient, organized, and on schedule.

It involves regular use of shop equipment such as saws, grinders, beveling tools, grooving machines, and pipe handling equipment. In addition, this role plays an important part in maintaining overall shop efficiency by managing material flow, assisting with loading and unloading, and preparing workstations for upcoming tasks. The Pipe Fitter / Welder Helper is hands-on and production-focused, providing exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing environment while building practical skills that support long-term development in the mechanical trades. This role is designed as an entry point into a skilled mechanical trade, providing hands-on experience in a modern fabrication environment. Helpers will work alongside experienced Pipe Fitters and Welders while developing core skills in pipe fabrication, assembly, and shop operations. Employees who demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and technical aptitude will have clear opportunities for advancement into a Pipe Fitter / Welder role. Our goal is to develop highly skilled tradespeople from within, creating a long-term career path within our fabrication operation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Not required

Travel: 0-25%

Work Schedule : This position works between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Pipe Fitters and Welders with fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping systems and mechanical components
  • Prepare materials for production, including cutting, cleaning, deburring, and organizing pipe and fittings
  • Support pipe layout, measurements, and joint preparation, including beveling, alignment, and fit-up
  • Assist with staging and assembly of mechanical systems such as skids, pipe racks, and piping assemblies
  • Operate and support fabrication equipment while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn pipe fabrication and welding processes.
  • Ability to follow instructions and shop procedures.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare pipe and fittings by cutting, cleaning, deburring, and staging materials for production
  • Assist with fit-up activities, including aligning components and beveling pipe
  • Support installation of valves, flanges, grooved systems, and other mechanical connections
  • Stage and assemble components for larger builds such as equipment skids, pipe racks, and header systems
  • Follow safety standards, quality expectations, and shop procedures at all times
  • Support operators by ensuring materials are ready for each phase of production
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Ensure tools are properly organized and available for production tasks
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
