Job Summary:
CT Mechanical is seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Pipefitter to join our team. As a Journeyman Pipefitter, you will play a critical role in installing, assembling, and maintaining mechanical piping systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. This role requires a high level of expertise in managing complex piping systems for large-scale commercial projects, and the ability to mentor apprentices as part of the team.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, system operation knowledge, and building plans/working drawings.
โ€ข Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and minimize pipe cutting.
โ€ข Thread and bend pipe by hand or with a pipe bending machine.
โ€ข Assemble and join piping using methods such as threaded, chalked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
โ€ข Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
โ€ข Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges.
โ€ข Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with all safety standards and building codes.
โ€ข Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure adherence to project timelines and specifications.
โ€ข Provide guidance and supervision to apprentices and less experienced pipefitters.
โ€ข Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Role Requirements:
โ€ข High school diploma or GED and 4 or more years of related experience in the field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
โ€ข Proven experience in installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical piping systems.
โ€ข Extensive experience with both copper and steel pipefitting in commercial environments.
โ€ข Ability to gain access to state and federal institutions.
โ€ข Preferred: 5 years of experience in copper and steel pipefitting.
โ€ข Must pass a drug test and background check.
โ€ข OSHA 10 certification required.
โ€ข OSHA 30 certification preferred.
โ€ข Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
โ€ข Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical fitness.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
โ€ข Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team.
โ€ข Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial mechanical piping projects is a plus.
