Position Description

With the corporate office and main plant in Eugene, Oregon, as well as a satellite office in Fairview, Oregon, we serve our clients throughout the Northwest.
Overview: The Local 737 Laborers and Wildish Construction Co. are looking for qualified Laborers in the Eugene/Springfield area. Wildish Construction Co. is a division of the Wildish Group of Companies headquartered in Eugene, Oregon. Wildish Construction Co. operates out of our fixed plant facilities located in Eugene and performs heavy civil projects both large and small, specializing in excavation, grading, aggregates, underground, asphalt, and concrete.
Title: General Laborers: Grade Checker and Pipe Layer (Union Positions), Wildish Construction Co.
Reports To: Foreman
Primary Function: Assists in laying pipe, grade checking, concrete pouring, and paving. Carries lumber, steel, pipe, and/or other construction materials and tools. Shovels, rakes, and/or uses hand tools (both manual and powered). Drives wheeled vehicles.
Position Requirements
Job Requirements:
  • Must be willing to join appropriate union.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be reliable, honest, and hardworking.
  • Traffic control knowledge is a preference.
  • GPS grade control knowledge is a preference.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurable (CDL preference given).
  • Must be able to follow OSHA and Wildish policies for safety and conduct.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Position is subject to random drug testing.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Strength: Capable of routinely lifting and carrying 25-50 pounds waist to shoulder height, occasionally lifting, pushing or pulling loads of 100 pounds, and wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Flexibility: Capable of walking on uneven, loose and/or broken surfaces; squatting, twisting, bending and/or reaching to lift or place loads; climbing up and down stairs, steps, ramps and/or ladders, and/or into and out of excavations and/or confined spaces.
  • Dexterity: Capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously (e.g., holding two boards together and nailing them; raking/ shoveling, running hand power tools, balancing on a pipe and hand signaling for backfill).
  • Respiratory Capacity: Capable of wearing a respiratory protection device while working in hazardous atmospheric conditions or as required.
  • Endurance: Capable of performing assigned duties for eight or more hours at a time in hot, cold, daylight, nighttime, wet and/or dusty environments and/or in confined, high, noisy and or heavily trafficked conditions.
  • Responsiveness: Capable of identifying through sight, sound, smell and/or touch, and reacting quickly to, hazardous situations.
  • Communication: Capable of verbally asking questions, responding to questions, relaying information, and responding to and alerting others of hazardous situations.
  • Mental: Capable of understanding and following instructions; remembering and repeating routine tasks; recognizing and following common safety practices.
