Job description

Pinewood Tool is a family owned, high-precision job shop, and we're hiring a Precision Grinder to join our first shift. You'll handle surface and OD grinding on tooling and components for short-run, tight-tolerance work where flatness, parallelism, concentricity, and finish all need to be right the first time.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in reading a print, picking the right wheel, dressing it well, and bringing parts in to spec.
What you'll do

  • Surface (flat) grinding to hold flatness and parallelism
  • OD grinding to hold concentricity and runout
  • Fine surface-finish control to print specification
  • Work to Pinewood's capability of holding tolerances to .0001″
  • Set up your own jobs, select and dress wheels, and perform in-process inspection
  • Machine from blueprints, applying GD&T
  • Take ownership of your work and stand behind the result
What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of precision grinding experience in a toolroom or short-run job shop
  • Hands-on experience with precision hand grinders, spin fixtures and wet grinders
  • Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances on flatness, parallelism, concentricity, and runout
  • Strong wheel selection and dressing skills across materials and finishes
  • Solid blueprint reading and applied GD&T knowledge
  • Comfortable with standard toolroom metrology — micrometers, indicators, height gauges, surface plates, surface-finish testers
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and team-minded — a fit for our culture of ownership, attention to detail, continuous improvement, and teamwork
The shop and the schedule

  • First shift, 8-hour days, full-time, in person
  • Clean, air-conditioned facility
  • Small-team environment where your work is visible and valued
  • Salary is based on experience
