About the Role:

The Assistant Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Maintenance Manager to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of all facility equipment and infrastructure. This position involves overseeing maintenance staff, coordinating repair schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Assistant Maintenance Manager will contribute to developing maintenance strategies that minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets. They will also be responsible for managing resources, including budgeting for maintenance projects and procuring necessary materials. Ultimately, this role ensures that all maintenance activities align with organizational goals to maintain a safe, functional, and productive environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance related to maintenance work.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and basic computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in maintenance management or relevant technical certifications (e.g., OSHA, HVAC, electrical).
  • Experience with budgeting and resource allocation in a maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of energy management and sustainability practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising daily maintenance operations across the facility.
  • Coordinate and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to optimize equipment reliability.
  • Manage and support maintenance staff, including training, performance evaluations, and work assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Monitor maintenance budgets, control costs, and assist in procurement of tools and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and inventory levels.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes and efficiency.
