Job description

The Club at Windward is a premier lakeside destination featuring top-tier amenities, including 4 padel courts, 6 pickleball courts, 18 tennis courts, 2 platform courts, 4 swimming pools, and a full-service marina. We’re seeking certified lifeguards to keep the pool area a safe, welcoming experience.

General Purpose:
A lifeguard's job is to keep people safe in or around the pool. This is done by actively surveilling the pool and the surroundingarea. The lifeguard will be responsible for keeping the area safe by enforcing the club's water safety policies and procedures.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Active surveillance of the pool to prevent accidents and/ orinjuries.
  • Be prepared to take action if necessary.
  • Enforces all pool related rules set by Windward Lake.
  • Administers first aid as trained by American Red Cross.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Performs pool maintenance:
    • To include but not limited to checking chemicals, skimming pool, empty filter basket and pool vacuuming, follow maintenance schedule as indicated on a daily basis.
  • Straightens the pool area throughout the day. Including setting up safety equipment, righting umbrellas and wiping down chairs, picking up towels and garbage.
  • Organizes and monitors pool games as needed; organizes pool-side games/activities. Participates in the games.
  • Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains all necessary records determined by the department manager including incident and accident reports.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience:
  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Previous experience preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
  • Has met the requirements of American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course.
  • Frequently uses hands, talks and hears.
  • Regularly stands and sits.
  • Occasionally walks, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, tastes or smells.
  • Occasionally Lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
  • Works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); near fumes or airborne particles, and near toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
  •  Valid American Red Cross, Lifeguard Certificate, CPR Pro.
  • Lifeguard certification must be submitted with application.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
