Pay Rate: Min $79, 809.60 based on years of experience, with a mid range of $99, 777.60Position Summary
Assists the Trauma Program Manager with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the overall Patient Safety Performance Improvement (PI) program. Maintains the Trauma Performance Improvement plan that is outcome focused and meets the requirements of the Florida Department of Health Trauma Center Standards.

Standard Work Duties: Trauma PI Coordinator
  • Reviews medical record, monitoring care for complications, compliance with practice guidelines, compliance of state audit filters and standards of care. Gathers and maintains information and data related to trauma sentinel events, deaths, transfers, complications, and adherence to protocols and variances.
  • Collects and analyzes data that supports Trauma performance improvement and research by identifying variations in patient care delivery and measuring clinical outcomes parameters. Is responsible for making the Trauma Program Manager aware of all noted performance improvement concerns, identified trends, and prioritizes reviews.
  • Prepares patient care summary for trauma surgeon review. Coordinates and supports the process for trauma physician peer review and documents outcomes and loop closure. Tracks all trauma patient care and systems issues until loop closure is obtained. Maintains appropriate documentation as required by the State of Florida, Department of Health, Trauma Center Standards.
  • Reviews research and evidence based practice to provide optimal outcomes to trauma patients and assists in implementation with Trauma Program Manager and Medical Director.
  • Acts as liaison to Quality Improvement Coordinator for hospital Patient Safety, Quality and Accreditation Department. Coordinates and processes all requests from Q.I. Coordinator for trauma related information and data in support of hospital goals and initiatives.
  • Assists in the Florida Department of Health Trauma Center Site Survey process, including but not limited to review and preparation of all trauma patient charts requested by surveyors, and review and preparation of all performance improvement reports and documentation requested by surveyors. Collaborates with TPM to submit quarterly QI review to state by mandated deadlines. Compiles data collected for monthly PI committee review of all trauma cases and completes minutes of associated meetings.

Competencies & Skills
Essential:
  • Medical terminology use and knowledge of State of Florida, Department of Health, Trauma Center Standards related to performance improvement.
  • Competency in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to organize multiple, complex projects and see them through to timely completion.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. High level of written and verbal communication skills to relay performance improvement issues and concerns with tact and diplomacy
  • Proficient to expert clinical knowledge regarding patient care

  • Previous performance and quality monitoring experience
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Bachelor Degree
Nonessential:
  • Master Degree

Other information:
Licenses Essential: State of Florida Registered Nurse Licensure
Certifications Preferred: TNCC, CCRN, TCRN
Experience Essential: Trauma experience. Two to five years clinical experience.
Experience Preferred: Critical care experience.
