Job description

Personal Injury Associate Attorney - Stamford, CT (In-Office, Hybrid Considered)
Chaffin Luhana is looking for a hungry, entrepreneurial PI attorney to run their own files.
If you want a desk where you're one of many junior associates fighting for scraps of responsibility, this isn't it. We're looking for an attorney who wants to drive their cases - someone who sees an unworked case and starts working it, who works well inside a team, and who wants to run pre-litigation and litigation-stage PI files from workup through resolution.
You'll be in a pod with a dedicated paralegal, backed by a firm that has built one of the country's most sophisticated mass-tort practices and applies that same rigor to its personal-injury book. You won't be alone on your files, and you won't be buried under them either.
Who you are
  • 5+ years of personal injury experience. You've worked up files end-to-end - intake, investigation, medical development, demands, negotiation, discovery, motion practice. You don't need to have first-chaired a trial, but you should be able to take a case from sign-up through the point where it's trial-ready.
  • A strong negotiator. Negotiation is at the heart of this role. You know how to build leverage on a file, position a demand, and drive a case to a resolution that reflects its real value.
  • Entrepreneurial and competitive. You want your results to matter, you want to be rewarded for them, and you're energized by a firm that measures what it does.
  • Client-centered. Our motto is Doing Good by Doing Right. We mean it. Our clients are people going through the worst period of their lives, and we treat them that way.
  • A team player. Pod-based, not lone-wolf. You'll work closely with a dedicated paralegal, a shared services team (records, medical review, intake, accounts), and partners who are genuinely involved in your files.
  • Admitted to the Connecticut and New York bars. PA, OH, or WV admission is a plus.
What you'll do
  • Litigate CT and NY personal injury cases - auto, premises, and related matters
  • Develop factual and medical evidence in close coordination with clients, paralegals, and partners
  • Draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and other filings; argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
  • Negotiate directly with adjusters and defense counsel - from initial demand through resolution
  • Prepare cases for pre-litigation, litigation, and settlement
  • Own filing, service of process, and SOL calendar for your files
Why Chaffin Luhana
  • A real platform. We're a nationally recognized mass-tort and PI firm. You'll have the infrastructure of a large firm - a full records team, a dedicated nurse paralegal, an in-house accounts team, medical review, and modern case-management technology - with the responsibility and visibility of a smaller shop.
  • A pod, not a pool. Every PI associate here has a dedicated paralegal and named shared-services support. You aren't fighting for a paralegal's attention.
  • Real mentorship, not just delegation. You'll be trusted with your files and supported in growing your judgment on them.
  • Doing Good by Doing Right. We back it with action - the CL Foundation supports charities every year, and team members nominate the causes we support. Firm-wide philanthropy is part of the job, not a poster in the break room.
  • Culture that respects your life outside of work. We close the firm between Christmas and New Year's every year. PTO is for actually recharging. Sick and bereavement days are separate - you don't burn vacation when life happens.
Compensation & benefits
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus an incentive bonus tied to results
  • 401(k) with a very attractive firm match
  • Health and dental - we cover most (if not all) of the premiums for typical team members, plus up to $750 into an HSA
  • FSA - transit and healthcare
  • Generous PTO, 10 paid holidays, separate sick/bereavement days, and a firm-wide Christmas-to-New-Year's close
  • Annual continuing-education budget
  • Bonusly - peer-to-peer recognition with real rewards funded by the firm
  • Annual firm retreat and a holiday dinner that people actually look forward to
  • CL Foundation - nominate your own charities and put your mark on our philanthropy
To apply
We use a short phone step to make sure candidates are genuinely interested before we invest time on both sides.
