About the team:
We are looking for a new colleague in our Vehicle Development team at our location in Livonia, MI! The Chassis Solutions Division of ZF North America offers application specific solutions for a variety of different automotive Steering, Braking, Suspension and Chassis Components. Continued growth in our Livonia, MI office has created an opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team!
What you can look forward to as a System Simulation Engineer:
  • Primary support engineer for HIL and SIL modeling responsibilities, relating to all aspects of vehicle systems: vehicle, tire, drive train, suspension, etc.
  • Primary support engineer for CAN/CANFD I/O setup and implementation for HIL vehicle systems.
  • Daily support for the running of hardware in the loop (HIL) simulators built for testing state-of-the-art ZF Brake Control systems including hydraulic lines, electrical harness, brake hardware, electrohydraulic control unit, brake pedal, MC and booster, and simulation computer(s).
  • Running of the HIL systems and help with automation scripting, data acquisition, data analysis and reporting.
  • Learning about advanced vehicle control systems.
  • Collaborate with various vehicle manufacturers to define and execute development and testing schemes that reduce overall program timing and costs related to the release of new vehicle programs and chassis control system architectures.

Your profile as a System Simulation Engineer:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics, higher degree preferred
  • Knowledge of 3D lumped mass models
  • Good knowledge of vehicle dynamics is required (modeling, not driving).
  • Previous experience with vehicle simulation, either desktop or real-time, is desired but not required.
  • Experience in Matlab and Simulink or similar analysis package(s) strongly desired.
  • Experience with C coding preferred but not required.
  • A desire to always be learning and implementing new things every year as vehicles and control systems continuously change.
  • Must be able to interact with many people and groups both inside and outside ZF
