Diagnostic Medical Physicist Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor

Position located at the University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences.

Details

The position seeks applicants with experience in the clinical, technical, and regulatory aspects of Nuclear Medicine. Preference will be given to those with such experience.

Responsibilities
  • Manage radiology departmental operations to achieve high performance and quality goals and effectively interact and communicate with others.
  • Demonstrate experience and training in radiation safety regulations, principles, techniques, and nuclear materials handling, and apply this knowledge to resolve safety issues.
  • Keen knowledge of imaging techniques, processes, and procedures used in diagnostics, enabling the production of internal body structure images for clinical or medical science purposes.
  • Maintain proficiency with radiography tools, techniques, applications, and equipment used in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring; select, procure, maintain, qualityโ€‘check, and dispose of medical equipment in compliance with related policies.
  • Perform acceptance testing and quality control of diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Perform and review shielding calculations, implement quality control programs, and revise and optimize imaging protocols while managing protocol doses.
  • Estimate patient dose, provide physics support for ACR accreditation programs, and revise and review departmental and hospital policies.
  • Participate in medical imaging and dosimetry research projects and provide radiological physics teaching to radiology residents.
  • Deliver radiation safety training for professional and technical staff and provide radiological physics services to diagnostic, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine divisions.
  • Integrate into CQCI activities and engage in regulatory aspects of investigative imaging agents.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. required.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain Board Certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology or the American Board of Medical Physics.
  • Experience in radiation safety, imaging protocol management, and nuclear medicine regulatory aspects.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform shielding calculations, quality control programs, and imaging protocol optimization.
  • Teaching experience desirable.
