Job description

Part-time AP Physics C Teacher - Upper School

Teaching at Gilmour Academy is a unique call to help students grow cognitively, spiritually, and socially/emotionally. It is made unique by the charisms gifted to our Holy Cross community. We are a Catholic school in the Holy Cross tradition, and all of our work is informed by our mission and our ever-evolving understanding of what it means to be Holy Cross. When we engage students we do so as commissioned members of this special community. Teaching at Gilmour is student-centered and outcome-based, but uniquely excellent when it is done as mindful and intentional members of Holy Cross.

Gilmour instills in every student a strong sense of self-worth through personal achievement and the discovery of his or her own voice. The world our students will soon lead will require them to be persons of great competence, courage, and moral stamina, with an enthusiastic, lifelong desire to learn.

Gilmour is seeking a collaborative and innovative part-time AP Physics C instructor for Gilmour’s Upper School. We seek an experienced educator who is passionate about personalized student learning and is willing to connect with students, families, and colleagues across disciplines and divisions to enact a rich, vibrant curriculum. Well-qualified candidates will be equipped to engage students in all disciplines of science. While classroom instruction will be a primary responsibility, candidates should be eager to support co-curricular initiatives, facilitate learning beyond the classroom, and participate enthusiastically in the life of the school.

In addition to expressing aptitude and enthusiasm for classroom teaching, excellent candidates will:

  • Have prior experience in secondary schools and possess teaching certification or a non-tax certification through the State of Ohio.

  • Must have experience with or knowledge of high school science curriculum.

  • Be enthusiastic about educating young people in the Holy Cross tradition.

  • Desire to work meaningfully with colleagues in professional development, with a focus on integrating instructional technologies across academic disciplines and divisions.
