Job description

Meta designs, builds, and operates some of the most innovative and energy-efficient data centers in the world. As global demand for compute infrastructure grows, so does the complexity of securing reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy supplies. Meta is seeking an experienced Energy Analyst to join the Infrastructure Data Center (IDC) Energy team, which is responsible for energy strategy, commercial and clean energy procurement, and energy portfolio management across Meta's rapidly expanding global data center portfolio. In this role, you will provide analytical expertise that directly informs site selection, energy procurement decisions, long-term capacity planning, and financial governance.
Energy Analyst, Data Center Portfolio Responsibilities:
  • Analyze electric tariffs and wholesale market prices to evaluate energy cost implications for new and existing data center sites
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast energy consumption, demand charges, and rate impacts across Meta's global data center portfolio
  • Conduct comprehensive load and cost analytics to support regional expansion and inform energy procurement strategies
  • Build scalable analytical tools and dashboards to streamline portfolio analysis and improve reporting efficiency
  • Engage with Infrastructure and Capacity Engineering stakeholders to incorporate data center design trends into load forecasting methodologies
  • Monitor wholesale energy market developments, regulatory changes, and utility rate proceedings that may affect Meta's data center operating costs
  • Synthesize complex energy data and present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization
  • Support the risk program to identify and quantify portfolio-wide wholesale market exposure
  • Create scalable AI-native analytical tool to improve efficiency and accuracy

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in the energy industry with a focus on wholesale or retail rate analysis, load forecasting, or energy market analytics
  • Experience analyzing electric utility tariffs, wholesale energy market data, and renewable energy structures
  • Experience applying quantitative and financial modeling methodologies to evaluate energy market risks and opportunities
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, or Infrastructure teams to support data-driven business decisions
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent analytical workstreams to meet project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
