Job Summary
The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for full-time Limited-Term Faculty in Physics on the Oconee campus beginning August 1, 2026. This is a full-time, ten-month position with benefits. A separate, permanent search is anticipated for August 2027.

Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and be responsible for teaching introductory and/or general physics and associated laboratories.
- The normal teaching load for a full-time lecturer is 30 credit hours per year. This position will be expected to teach three, 4-credit-hour physics courses per semester (24 credit hours per year). Due to the nature of this position, there will be 6 credit hour per year course release for other duties including but not limited to:
- Maintaining physics laboratory equipment on the Oconee campus.
- Providing mentoring to physics and pre-engineering students on the Oconee campus.
- Advising students, service to the university and community, active participation in departmental activities, maintaining a collegial work environment, and professional development are expected.
- Some evening teaching may be required.
- This is a full-time teaching position with no research expectations.
- Excellence in teaching, and university/community service are requirements for promotion.
Required Qualifications
- A master's degree is required. Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, Astronomy, or closely related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching is desirable, which could also include teaching secondary physics.
- The candidate must have a strong drive to teach students and the patience required to explain complex concepts.
