A Physician Informatics job involves leveraging medical knowledge and technology to improve healthcare operations, patient outcomes, and data management. These professionals work at the intersection of medicine and information systems, helping to develop, implement, and optimize electronic health records (EHRs) and other digital tools. They collaborate with IT teams, clinicians, and administrators to enhance clinical workflows, ensure data accuracy, and support evidence-based decision-making. Their role is critical in improving efficiency, reducing errors, and advancing healthcare innovation through technology.
A Physician Informatics professional often collaborates with both clinical staff and IT teams to optimize the use of electronic health records (EHRs) and other digital healthcare tools. Daily tasks may include analyzing clinical workflows, developing and testing system enhancements, providing user training, and troubleshooting technology-related issues. They also participate in multidisciplinary meetings to gather feedback, ensure regulatory compliance, and support quality improvement initiatives. This balance of technical and clinical work ensures healthcare technology effectively meets the needs of providers and patients.
To thrive as a Physician Informatics professional, you need a strong clinical background (typically an MD or DO), expertise in health informatics, and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Familiarity with technical tools such as Epic, Cerner, or other EHR platforms, as well as certifications like Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and change management skills help facilitate collaboration between clinicians and IT teams. These skills are crucial for effectively bridging the gap between healthcare delivery and technology, leading to improved patient care and system efficiency.

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is seeking a Fl Licensed ARNP/ PA to join a core group of surgeons in our Cardiothoracic Program. This role will support our Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the Clinic, rounding on the floor, and in the Operating Room.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced provider with a background in Cardiology and the Operating Room. This position will work in tandem with other Midlevel Providers on the service. The call structure will be dependent on the number of providers in the group, but the expectation is that it would be 1:4.
The scope of practice currently includes all aspects of Adult Cardiac Surgery, On and Off-Pump CABG, Mitral Repair, an active TAVR program, arrhythmia surgery, as well as endovascular and open aortic surgery including dissection repair. A broad spectrum of thoracic surgical procedures are performed including minimally invasive lung resections, transhiatal esophagectomy, and complex anti-reflux procedures.
When you join the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) family, you're joining a team of more than 5,000 colleagues and 1,100 medical staff members committed to transforming care, advancing health and improving lives with an ultimate vision to elevate the standards of healthcare practice, quality and innovation in the region. Founded in 1948, TMH serves a 21-county area in North Florida, South Georgia and South Alabama and is composed of a 772-bed acute care hospital, a surgery and adult ICU center, a Level II Trauma Center, a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, four residency programs, more than 35 affiliated physician practices and partnerships with Doctors Memorial Hospital, Florida State University College of Medicine, UF Health, Weems Memorial Hospital and Wolfson Children s Hospital.
As a regional healthcare leader, TMH is home to the Big Bend's only:
TMH's M.T. Mustian Center houses 28 state-of-the-art operating rooms, four interventional suites and three thoughtfully designed adult intensive care units (ICUs) to accommodate 72 ICU patient rooms. Directly connected to the existing Main Hospital, the center is located on TMH's main campus, near the corner of Miccosukee Road and Medical Drive. As the most expensive single construction project in Tallahassee's history, the facility represents a more than 270-million-dollar investment in caring for the community.
Tallahassee, Your New Home!Near, but far, from the well-known destinations of the Sunshine State, Tallahassee offers a distinct culture and community with access to some of the world's greatest beaches. The capital city, Tallahassee, is a hub of political activity and home to universities, research institutes and some of Florida's most pristine nature. Often described as "The Other Florida" with its deep-rooted history, rolling hills, mild climate, southern-style hospitality and canopy roads of moss-draped oaks.
Tallahassee is a medium-sized city where the power of state government and a vibrant academic and artistic community are complemented by old-fashioned charm. Tallahassee is located in the central northwest panhandle region of Florida, 30 minutes north of the Gulf of Mexico and 30 minutes south of Thomasville, Georgia. This region marks the center of the eight-county Big-Bend area.
Tallahassee is a great place to live and a better place to practice!
Partnership with Florida State UniversityBuilding upon TMH's existing education and research partnership with Florida State University (FSU), the partners recently announced a plan to build the FSU Health Tallahassee Center, a new facility that will offer advanced medical training and translational research opportunities and explore the academic health center of the future.
The building, funded by a $125 million appropriation from the Florida Legislature, will be located on the TMH campus and include educational, medical and research laboratory space while drawing on the knowledge and expertise of TMH clinicians and faculty from the FSU College of Medicine and College of Nursing. The center will provide about 130,000 gross square feet of medical and research-related space distributed over five floors. It will accommodate an estimated 30 principal investigators, producing an estimated $40 million of additional annual grant funding, focused on clinical trials, data-driven precision health, digital health and clinical informatics, and clinical and translational research. The preliminary conservative economic impact of the new Academic Health Center alone is expected to add more than $217 million annually and support more than 1,500 jobs directly and indirectly. During the three-year construction phase, roughly 1,200 jobs will be created. Post construction and activation, the center will sustain more than 350 permanent and high-paying jobs.
TMH and FSU have also broken ground on a new healthcare campus located in Panama City Beach, Florida. The campus is planned to be located on an 87-acre parcel near the intersection of State Highway 79 and Phillip Griffiths Sr. Parkway, just minutes from the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community, the 55-and-better community which is planned for 3,500 homes.
