To thrive as a Physical Design Intern, you need a solid background in electrical engineering or computer engineering, with knowledge of digital circuit design and VLSI concepts. Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools like Cadence or Synopsys, and experience with scripting languages such as Python or TCL, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and effective communication help you collaborate with team members and address design challenges efficiently. These skills are crucial for ensuring accurate, high-performance chip designs and successful integration within fast-paced semiconductor development teams.

What types of projects and tasks can a Physical Design Intern expect to work on during their internship?

As a Physical Design Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of tasks that support the chip design process, such as assisting with floorplanning, placement and routing of circuit blocks, and running design rule checks.
