Job description

This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. There is flexibility in determining the specific days and hours worked; however, the position requires a consistent weekly schedule to support patient care, admissions, and case assignments.

  • Programming Hours: Scheduled hours must primarily fall within programming hours of 9:00 AM–3:00 PM, with the exception of the required Tuesday treatment team meeting. Ideally, scheduled workdays will begin no later than 11:00 AM to ensure IOP admissions can complete their psychiatric evaluations prior to the end of morning programming.
  • Onsite Requirement: The position requires onsite availability at least four days per week. Hours may also be distributed across all five weekdays if preferred.
  • Treatment Team Meeting: Attendance at the Tuesday treatment team meeting from 3:00 PM until approximately 4:00–4:30 PM is required. This time is included within the 20 scheduled weekly hours.
  • Consistent Schedule: The selected schedule must remain consistent from week to week. There is flexibility when initially establishing the days and hours; however, once established, the schedule should remain consistent to allow for appropriate patient scheduling and case assignments.

Example Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM, and Tuesday from 11:00 AM–4:00 PM.

We are seeking a PT/PRN Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Chapel Hill, NC!

Position Summary

The position is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with care teams as needed. The position will provide pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and request and review any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members, care givers, external medical providers to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process.

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization: Initiates and maintains frequent and close working relationships with staff, clients, families, facility, and peers throughout the organization.

Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.

PMHNP Essential Responsibilities

  • Conducts all Psychiatric Evaluations and ensures medical necessity for all individuals enrolled in the PHP.
  • Provides medication management services for individuals enrolled in PHP as needed. Available on-site.
  • Provides consultation, education and related information to patients and the families, if involved, to increase success of treatment and program engagement.
  • Directs and collaborates with staff on clinical activities and interventions.
  • Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner as needed to meet clinical, payer and other requirements.
  • Perform other activities as requested by the Director and assume other appropriate medical responsibilities as necessary.

PMHNP Experience:

  • Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
  • Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus.
  • Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity.

PMHNP Education:

  • Position requires an active ARNP within the state of North Carolina and a minimum of three years’ experience within a behavioral healthcare setting, experience treating mental health disorders, strongly preferred. Possesses working knowledge of psychotherapy, psychopathology, diagnostic assessment and related treatment interventions.  Knowledge of evidence-based treatments and ability to individualize treatment approaches to meet each client's needs.  Must be able to conceptualize and implement master treatment plan with fully developed problems, objectives and goals and monitor other clinicians to do the same.
