Job description

  • Provide advanced performance analysis, design expertise, and technical due diligence support for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects during development, design, construction, and operation.
  • Act as a technical lead for the Engineering team and partner with senior leadership across departments.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and recommend equipment and design specifications to suppliers and Procurement partners.
  • Create and review photovoltaic and energy storage production estimates using PVsyst, commercial software, or in-house models.
  • Review third-party modeling and studies.
  • Lead development of in-house models and guide best practices for model assumptions and uncertainty assessment.
  • Lead Independent Engineer due diligence, including contract management, report reviews, energy assessments, and feedback.
  • Shape Owner Engineering review and approval best practices and provide subject matter expertise.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge and share expertise with the Engineering team and senior leadership.
  • Provide technical review, input, risk assessment, and lead technical negotiations for Interconnection, Equipment Procurement, Power Purchase, EPC, and O&M contracts.
  • Guide and review conceptual system designs and site layouts for photovoltaic and energy storage projects.
  • Develop technical specifications for engineering design guidelines and serve as subject matter expert in contractor discussions.
  • Make design alternative decisions based on value engineering analysis and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate within and across departments.
  • Maintain project timelines and deliverables.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, the electrical power industry, or related, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in photovoltaic and/or energy storage engineering.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Subject matter expertise in several specific types of equipment and understanding technical specifications associated with product advantages and risks.
  • Expertise in advanced energy modeling methodologies and sophisticated energy models.
  • Ability to lead engineering due diligence for financing and independent engineering partners.
  • Experience leading value engineering and influencing design decisions.
  • Subject matter expertise in test procedures and test results based on EPC Agreements.
  • Ability to build, navigate, and manage complex interpersonal relationships and conflicts.
  • Ability to independently anticipate, gather, and understand project requirements.
  • Skilled in engineering project management, including coordinating multifaceted projects, allocating resources, and mitigating risks.
  • Ability to explain complex details clearly.
  • Ability to work through complex problems and competing priorities with a high level of detail and organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
