Black to the Future Action Fundย is a 501(c)(4) that works to transform Black communities into constituencies that build independent, progressive Black political power in cities and states, enacting policy that improves the lives of Black people so that Black people have what all people deserve - dignity, safety, and power. This is a shared position with its sister organization,ย Black Futures Lab, a 501(c)(3) that transforms Black communities into constituencies that wield independent political power at the municipal, state, and federal levels.ย ย

The Voter Outreach Team Leadย leads a team of up to five Election Impact Organizers - social justice advocates who inform and mobilize voters through door-to-door canvassing, phone and text banking, social media, and community events. Our goal is toย impactย the 2026 General Election by engaging Black voters on the issues that matter most to them and energizing them to head to the polls. This role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Elections Campaigns.ย
Whatย You'llย Do:ย
- Lead and support a team of up to five Election Impact Organizers in daily voter outreachย
- Build relationships with community leaders through one-on-one and small-group meetings, sharing the team's purpose and goalsย
- Canvass alongside your team - door-to-door outreach, phone and text banking, social media posts, and community events and meetingsย
- Train and support volunteersย
- Enter voter data accurately intoย MiniVANย and completeย accurateย daily reportsย
- Help your team meet its voter-contact goals each shiftย
- Follow the provided script and shareย accurateย information with residentsย
- Stay informed about the political issues relevant to the campaignย

Requirements
Whatย We'reย Looking For:ย
- Experience leading or coordinating a team, with comfort giving and receiving performance feedbackย
- Ability to train and support volunteersย
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a positive, enthusiastic approach to engaging Black voters across a range of social and economic backgroundsย
- Reliability and follow-through - arriving on time and prepared at staging locations, events, and meetings, and helping your team do the sameย
- Comfort using a smartphone, web browser, and theย MiniVANย app to record voter responses, send texts, make calls, andย submitย social media posts (a personal smartphone compatible withย MiniVAN, able to send texts and take photos, isย required)ย
- Ability to read a map and follow an assigned route, including across rural roads and turfย
- Flexibility and adaptability as the needs of the Election Impact Team changeย
- Willingness to attend mandatory orientation and all trainingsย
Helpful, but notย required:ย
- Previousย experience with a campaign, community organization, sales, or customer serviceย
- Existing relationships with local community groups and organizationsย
- Bilingualย English-Spanishย orย English-Haitianย Creoleย
Physical Requirements:ย ย
- This role can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.ย
- Door-to-door canvassing involves covering assigned turf that can span several miles per shift, often with homes spread far apart and across uneven terrain or roads without sidewalksย
- Standing and walking for up to about 4 hours per shift in varying weather, and carrying up to 10 poundsย
- Phone and text banking involves working through call and text lists using a provided scriptย
Travel:ย
- Team Leadsย are responsible forย getting themselves to assigned staging locations and turf.ย A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle during working hours isย required.ย
- If you choose to use a personal vehicle and would like mileage reimbursement, a valid driver's license and proof of insurance areย required, and reimbursement is provided at the federal mileage rate.ย
Position Type and Compensation:ย
- Part-time, temporary, non-exempt (hourly)ย ย
- Estimated late August through early Novemberย ย
- Up to 25 hours per weekย ย
- Mileage reimbursement available at the federal mileage rate for approved personal-vehicle useย
