What are photography apprenticeships?

Photography apprenticeships are structured training programs that allow aspiring photographers to gain hands-on experience while working alongside experienced professionals. These apprenticeships typically combine practical work with classroom-based learning, helping individuals develop both technical and creative skills. Apprentices learn about camera operation, lighting, editing, and the business side of photography. The goal is to prepare apprentices for a successful career in photography by providing real-world experience and mentorship.

What types of hands-on experience can I expect during a photography apprenticeship?

During a photography apprenticeship, you can expect to assist professional photographers on shoots, handle lighting and equipment setup, and participate in both studio and on-location assignments. Apprentices often help with post-production tasks like photo editing and organizing digital files, gaining exposure to industry-standard software and workflows. This role also typically involves collaborating with stylists, models, and clients, providing a well-rounded view of the business side of photography. The experience you gain is highly practical, preparing you for a variety of career paths within the industry.
