Job Summary

Location: Plainfield, New Jersey
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $60,000–$62,000 (Starting salary for first-year teachers)
Additional Compensation: Stipends available for eligible extracurricular and additional responsibilities.

Position Overview
The Apprenticeship Network (TAN) is recruiting on behalf of a public charter school located in Plainfield, New Jersey. We are seeking passionate, student-centered certified teachers who are committed to fostering academic excellence, creating engaging learning environments, and supporting the social and emotional development of all students.

The ideal candidate is dedicated to equitable educational outcomes, values collaboration, and is eager to contribute to a positive school culture. Teachers will have the opportunity to participate in professional development, collaborate with instructional leaders, and take on additional leadership opportunities through stipend-eligible assignments.

Interview Dates (In Person):

July 6–9
July 13–16

General Accountabilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote student achievement.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Assess student learning using formal and informal assessment strategies and use data to inform instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff regarding student performance and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, administrators, and support staff to improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
  • Implement classroom management practices that promote respectful, productive learning environments.
  • Perform additional duties and participate in school activities as assigned.
  • Opportunities to earn additional compensation through stipends responsibilities, extracurricular activities, or leadership assignments.

Job Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey Standard, CEAS, or Certificate of Eligibility (CE) appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices and classroom management.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to educational equity and student success.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required employment background checks and clearances.
