Both Photography Apprentices and Photography Interns are entry-level roles focused on gaining practical experience. Apprentices often work under close supervision, learning specific skills, while interns may have a more observational role or assist with tasks. The terms are sometimes used interchangeably, but apprentices may have a more structured learning plan, whereas internships are often shorter-term opportunities.

Job Summary This position is responsible for the appraisal of real property values in support of the assessment process. Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork. Please note: This is a public facing position responsible for documenting property improvements and answering taxpayer questions and concerns in relation to assessment values.
This position functions primarily in the field where you will be entering onto taxpayer's properties. A strong foundation in customer relations and service will be required. Additionally, many of the duties and functions require strong written and computer software skills.
Pay Grade M1 - M5 - DOE Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent, and specialized training in the field of work including college courses, certificate program, apprenticeship, etc. Three (3) years of experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position. Such work experience includes appraisal, real estate, construction trades or construction management.
Additional relevant skills and experience includes: knowledge of market values, comparable sales and local trends. Property management or development, project or production management, and hands on knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building systems. Rigorous attention to detail, strong communication skills both verbally and in writing, experience providing customer service, and skilled in all aspects of Microsoft 365 (Word/Outlook/Excel) is strongly desired.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience. Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700, within ninety (90) days of hire. Duties/Responsibilities Locates, measures, photographs, and inventories residential, commercial, industrial and personal property; interviews property owners to verify interior components and property conditions. Reviews all accounts for accuracy; inputs new information into the database, including sketches and photographs.
Communicates with the general public by phone, email, and in person to answer questions, explain the assessment process, and resolve issues and conflicts. Confirms and presents written and oral defenses of assessed values at quasi-judicial hearings before a panel of board members. Reviews, analyzes and interprets fee appraisals, brokers' opinions of values, and other appraisal documents presented in support of assessed values.
Responds and assists the Emergency Operation Center in assessing property affected by disasters. Performs related duties.
