Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Lynnwood, WA Type: Contract Compensation: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour Work Model: Onsite Hours: 40.0 hours per week

Overview This is a Mechanical Engineering role with a strong CAD and engineering documentation focus, supporting the design and development of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical products. The engineer will create and review detailed engineering drawings, apply GD&T standards, and provide technical guidance to CAD drafters while collaborating closely with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare formal engineering drawings using Leidos' standard drawing templates.
  • Work from on-hand parts, photographs, engineering sketches, and working prototype parts and assemblies to develop accurate drawings.
  • Determine drawing requirements and provide specific direction to Drafters as needed.
  • Review and check drawings prepared by Drafters for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering requirements.
  • Apply GD&T principles to engineering drawings.
  • Develop drawings for mechanical parts, electrical cables and connectors, and outline and installation drawings for electrical circuit card assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, photographs, prototypes, and physical parts to create detailed CAD drawings.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, Drafters, and other technical personnel throughout the design and drawing process.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to mechanical, electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Experience creating and reviewing formal engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or electromechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to Drafters and work independently on drawing requirements.
  • Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work onsite in Lynnwood, WA.
