Photographer information

What does a photographer do?

A photographer is a professional who captures images using a camera, either digitally or on film. They may specialize in areas such as portraits, events, commercial, fashion, or nature photography. Photographers use their technical skills and artistic vision to create compelling images and often edit or enhance photos after shooting. They may work independently as freelancers or be employed by studios, media outlets, or companies. Their work plays a crucial role in media, advertising, documentation, and personal memories.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a photographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Photographer, you need a solid understanding of photography principles, technical knowledge of cameras and lighting, and often formal training or a degree in photography or a related field. Familiarity with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as experience using various camera equipment, is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills help photographers capture compelling images and work effectively with clients. These skills are crucial for producing high-quality photographs, meeting client expectations, and succeeding in a competitive industry.

What are some common challenges photographers face when working on location shoots?

Photographers often encounter unpredictable factors on location shoots, such as changing weather conditions, fluctuating lighting, and logistical constraints like limited access or time. Adapting quickly to these variables is crucial for capturing high-quality images. Additionally, photographers may need to coordinate with clients, models, or other team members on-site, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. Being prepared with backup equipment and a flexible mindset helps ensure successful shoots despite these challenges.

While both roles require technical skills and creative vision, their tools, techniques, and end products differ significantly.

How much money can a photographer make?

Photographers' earnings vary based on experience, specialization, location, and whether they work freelance or for an organization. According to industry data, the median annual wage for photographers is around $36,000, with some professionals earning over $70,000 or more through high-end assignments, commercial work, or owning their own business. Developing strong skills, a good portfolio, and networking can influence earning potential.

What kind of jobs do photographers do?

Photographers capture images for various purposes, including events like weddings and concerts, commercial work such as advertising and product photography, and artistic projects. They often work in studios or on location, using cameras, lighting, and editing software, and may specialize in areas like portrait, fashion, or wildlife photography.

Marketing Manager

Deca Analytics

San Juan, PR • On-site

Full-time

Posted 21 days ago

Job description

About DECA Analytics

DECA Analytics is a Puerto Rico-based professional services firm specializing in tax incentives, compliance, capital markets, and foundational business services. DECA helps companies and individuals navigate Act 60 incentives, R&D tax credits, grants, access to capital, and business establishment in Puerto Rico — serving as a trusted long-term advisor rather than a transactional service provider. DECA is investing in an in-house marketing function to strengthen its digital presence, build credibility, and generate qualified business development opportunities. This is a newly created, high-visibility role reporting

directly into DECA's leadership.

About the Role

The Marketing Manager will own DECA's marketing strategy, brand voice, content calendar, and vendor coordination from the ground up. This is a hands-on, builder role for someone who can both set the strategy and execute day-to-day — from directing contracted specialists to drafting content themselves with the help of AI tools.

You will manage a small team of contracted specialists (SEO/GEO, videography/photography, web development) while personally driving DECA's storytelling, thought-leadership, and reputation-building efforts. You will report on performance through a monthly KPI scorecard and help DECA become a recognized, AI-search-visible authority on Puerto Rico incentives, tax, and business topics.

What You'll Own

Strategy & Infrastructure

• Own overall marketing strategy, brand voice, messaging framework, and visual standards.

• Build and manage the content calendar and approval process across all workstreams.

• Set up and maintain analytics and lead tracking (GA4, Search Console, Monday.com lead source field).

• Coordinate contracted specialists — SEO/GEO, videography/photography, web development — to keep work moving on a continuous basis.

Client Promotions & Storytelling

• Build a prioritized client list and manage the end-to-end process for client video interviews, written case studies, and testimonials.

• Turn each client engagement into multiple reusable assets: primary video, short clips, written success story, LinkedIn post, and newsletter content.

• Coordinate outreach, consent, drafts, and internal/client approvals for all client-facing content.

Online Reviews & Reputation Management

• Run a structured, non-pressuring review-request process across Google Business Profile, BBB, Trustpilot, and other relevant platforms.

• Tie review requests to natural client milestones (decree issuance, tax credit approval, grant completion, etc.), coordinated with satisfaction surveys and the KAM team.

• Monitor review platforms, draft responses for internal approval, and flag recurring themes or sensitive issues to leadership.

SEO, GEO/AIO & Thought Leadership

• Direct keyword and search-intent research across DECA's core service lines (Act 60, R&D tax credits, grants, access to capital, business expansion) — split between traditional SEO and GEO/AIO (AI-

search) targets.

• Oversee website optimization: page structure, technical SEO, structured data, and dedicated service pages.

• Coordinate with subject-matter experts across DECA's teams to source, draft, and publish thought-leadership articles, FAQs, and explainers structured for citation by AI search platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews).

• Maintain a consistent publishing cadence across articles, LinkedIn, newsletters, and regulatory alerts.

Lead Generation & Reporting

• Ensure marketing content drives qualified prospects to service pages, consultation requests, and inquiry forms.

• Track which content, campaigns, and search terms generate the highest-quality opportunities.

• Deliver a monthly KPI scorecard covering reviews, search rankings, AI-search citations, website traffic, engagement, and pipeline impact.

What You'll Manage

You will direct the following contracted specialists rather than performing all work personally:

• SEO / GEO Specialist (overseas contractor, ~10–15 hrs/week) — keyword research, technical SEO, and GEO/AIO content structuring.

• Videographer / Photographer (Puerto Rico, as-needed) — client interviews and on-site photography.

• Web Developer (contractor) — publishes new pages and implements technical fixes you and the SEO specialist identify.

What We're Looking Forz

• 5+ years of experience in marketing, content, or communications, ideally with exposure to B2B professional services, financial services, or a similarly regulated industry.

• Strong writing skills and comfort turning technical subject matter (tax, incentives, compliance) into clear, credible content for a non-technical business audience.

• Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and genuine curiosity about GEO/AIO (how AI search platforms surface and cite content) — you don't need to be the technical SEO expert, but you need to be able to brief and manage one.

• Experience managing external contractors or vendors and keeping multiple workstreams moving without close supervision.

• Comfort using AI tools (writing, editing, light web development, research) as part of your daily workflow.

• Based in Puerto Rico, with an understanding of — or strong interest in learning — the island's tax incentives and economic development landscape.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning a KPI scorecard and reporting results to firm leadership.

What Success Looks Like

• A steady cadence of client stories, thought-leadership content, and reviews published every month.

• Measurable growth in organic traffic, keyword rankings, and DECA's visibility in AI-generated search answers.

• A growing, well-managed body of client reviews across Google, BBB, and Trustpilot.

• Qualified inquiries generated through the website and tracked to source in Monday.com.

• A repeatable marketing system that can scale as DECA adds capacity — more SEO hours, additional headcount, or expanded content production.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity. All employment decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and business needs without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, or disability status.
