Search & ComparisonOften compared for visual content creationRelated but distinct; common to compare rates

Photographer rates focus on still image creation, while videographer rates cover moving images and video production. Both roles require specialized skills and equipment, but their rates reflect differences in work scope, post-production, and industry demand. Understanding these differences helps clients budget appropriately for their visual content needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Photographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Photographer, you need a solid understanding of photography principles, composition, lighting, and camera operation, typically developed through formal education or hands-on experience. Proficiency in photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as familiarity with various camera equipment, is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills help photographers capture compelling images and effectively communicate with clients. These skills and qualities ensure high-quality visual content and successful client relationships in a competitive industry.

What are photographer rates?

Photographer rates refer to the amount of money photographers charge for their services. These rates can vary widely based on experience, location, type of photography (such as weddings, portraits, or commercial work), and the length or complexity of the project. Some photographers charge by the hour, while others offer package deals or flat fees for specific types of shoots. Rates can range from $50 to several hundred dollars per hour, with established professionals often charging more. Always discuss pricing and what is included—like editing, prints, or digital rights—before booking a photographer.

What are some common challenges photographers face when negotiating their rates with clients?

Photographers often encounter challenges when setting or negotiating their rates, such as clients underestimating the value of professional photography or comparing prices to less experienced providers. Balancing transparency about the scope of work, usage rights, and post-production time can also be tricky. To overcome these obstacles, it's helpful to clearly outline deliverables, explain the creative and technical expertise involved, and provide a well-structured pricing guide. Open communication and understanding the client's budget can lead to mutually beneficial agreements.

Be Seen First

After you apply to this job, you can share why you’re interested to jump to the top of the candidate list.

Job description

Before we get into the details, here's the most important thing to know.

We know the job title says "Photographer," but the truth is, we're not photographers first. We're customer service reps who happen to hold a camera!

We’re looking for someone who can walk into a home, connect naturally with clients, communicate professionally, stay organized under pressure, and represent our company well. The camera part? We can teach that.

In fact, we often prefer candidates with little or no photography experience because it allows us to train consistently from the ground up. What matters most to us is reliability, professionalism, customer service, and the ability to create a polished experience for every client interaction.

This role is a great fit for people coming from hospitality, restaurants, retail, or other fast-paced customer-facing environments. Former restaurant managers, servers, bartenders, baristas, and hospitality professionals tend to do especially well because they already understand urgency, communication, professionalism, and how to stay calm while juggling moving parts.

About the Role

We are a growing real estate media company serving Cleveland and the suburban area. Our photographers are an extension of our brand, and our clients trust us not just because of the media we deliver, but because of how we show up.

We work directly with real estate agents and homeowners every day, so professionalism and people skills matter just as much as attention to detail.

This role is fast-paced and highly structured. You’ll drive locally between appointments, follow detailed shot lists and company procedures, and regularly receive feedback as part of the training and growth process. The people who succeed here are coachable, dependable, detail-oriented, and genuinely care about delivering a high-quality client experience every time.

What You’ll Do

  • Travel locally to residential properties for scheduled appointments
  • Capture interior and exterior listing photos using a structured process
  • Deliver a polished, white-glove experience to homeowners and real estate agents
  • Represent the company professionally in the field
  • Follow shot lists and company procedures consistently
  • Upload media after appointments
  • Learn additional services like drone and video over time
  • Help support and train future team members as the company grows

Compensation & Growth Path

  • Paid Training: $15/hour

  • Standard Photoshoots: Starting at $20 per unit (1 unit = approximately 60 minutes of scheduled on-site time)

Additional Service Rates:

  • FAA Part 107 Drone Certified Shoots: $25 per unit (We’ll support you through certification)

  • Standard Video Services: $30 per unit

  • Premium Video Services + On-Camera Agent Work: $35 per unit

  • Future Team Lead Opportunities: $40 per unit

Additional Perks:

  • Mileage reimbursement provided at $0.30/mile

  • Turnpike toll reimbursement included

This role offers strong long-term growth opportunities for someone interested in building creative, technical, and leadership skills within a growing company.

Schedule & Availability

  • Monday-Friday availability preferred
  • Minimum 4 days/week required
  • Approximately 20-25 hours per week to start (Around 6 hours per day)
  • Most work occurs during daytime business hours (9am to dusk)
  • Local travel between appointments is required
  • Reliable vehicle required
  • Flexibility and professionalism are essential

What We’re Looking For

  • Outgoing, professional, and comfortable interacting with clients daily
  • Background in hospitality, restaurants, retail, or other customer-facing roles strongly preferred
  • Coachable and open to feedback
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable following structured systems and processes
  • Strong communication and professionalism
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable driving locally between appointments
  • Interested in long-term growth opportunities
  • Leadership mindset and willingness to help train future hires

Customer service experience is extremely important in this role. We are looking for someone who understands urgency, communication, consistency, and how to create a great experience for clients every single time.

This Role May NOT Be For You If

  • You need guaranteed fixed hours every week
  • You dislike driving (this is a large part of the day!)
  • You prefer minimal client interaction
  • You struggle with detailed processes or checklists
  • You rush through tasks instead of focusing on consistency and quality

Why This Role Works

  • Paid training provided
  • No prior real estate photography experience required
  • Flexible part-time schedule
  • Mileage and toll reimbursement
  • Opportunity to build photography, drone, and video skills
  • Clear advancement opportunities
  • Leadership growth potential
  • Supportive, team-focused culture

If you’re dependable, service-oriented, and excited to grow with a company that values professionalism and people skills, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today.
