Job description

Job Description: The person in this position will assist the director in coordinating all aspects of the department's athletic communications office. Successful candidate will execute the department's social media goals, while also providing oversight of game day event management. Other duties may include statistical record-keeping, website maintenance, social media coordination, photo/video editing, media relations oversight, event management, award nominations, staff/student-athlete profiles, and special event coordination.Location: GlensideResponsibilities: Assists in the development and implementation of an athletics communications plan and serves as primary liaison between athletics staff, student-athletes, and media outlets for assigned sports.Provides athletic communications event management for home athletic events, including stat keeping, live streaming, social media content, PA announcing, and other duties.Oversees and provides regular and engaging content for all athletically-related social media platforms, including post-game interviews, video highlight packages, photographs and information graphics.Updates and maintains athletics website and record books, while submitting statistics and team results in accordance with guidelines set by NCAA, conference, and affiliated organizations.Promotes individual student-athletes for awards and honors, and nominates the university as a whole for various athletic, academic, and miscellaneous awards and honors.Provides direct support for special athletic events, including end-of-year athletics banquet, golf outing, Hall of Fame, and other events.Produces electronic and printed content to promote the department's athletics programs, student-athletes, home athletic events, fundraising and community service initiatives, and recruiting materials.Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities may include event management, facility supervision, assigned administrative tasks, committee work, or representing the Athletics Department at conferences/meetings.Essential Job Requirements:Education:Bachelor's degree in athletic communications, broadcasting sports management, or related field from accredited college or university is preferred.Master's degree is preferred.Combination of degree completion and professional work experience will be considered in absence of bachelor's degree.Experience:Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required with prior experience in athletics or related field strongly preferred.Demonstrated leadership, vision, personnel, and management skills.Skills:Computer competency required. Experience with Stat Crew software, NLS stat software, Adobe Creative Suite, SIDEARM Sports content management system, various social media platforms, BlueFrame streaming service, and video editing programs strongly preferred.Broadcasting experience preferredBasic photography skills and photo editing knowledge strongly preferredExcellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.Strong initiative, detail, and follow-up skills with student-athletes, staff members, and administration.Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.Ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.Ability to work on multiple projects under time constraints.Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgment.General computer knowledge with a proficiency in Word and Excel.Special Requirements:Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel for games expected.Evening and weekend availability is required.Flexibility with an evolving work environment is important.Valid driver's license required.Ability to successfully complete a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications required.
