Student Photographer
Position Description
The Student Photographer will serve as one of the University's official content creators for the flagship social media channels and the BSU website, supporting campus-wide marketing and communications campaigns.
As a member of a talented team of student employees, the Student Photographer will shoot photos at events, take portraits in our photo studio and at other campus locations, utilize off-camera flash lighting, pitch creative ideas, help coordinate photo shoots, add relevant and accurate metadata and image names to photographs, and serve as on-site production assistants to professional staff photographers and videographers.
The Student Photographer will further develop camera and photo editing skills while working for BSU's Office of Social Media and Digital Content within the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications.
Some night and weekend work will be required, with advance notice, based on divisional needs.
While positional onboarding and continual guidance by staff will be provided, the Student Photographer will be expected to join the team already possessing a skill set that will allow for immediate contribution in a fast-paced, flexible work environment.

Eligibility requirements:
Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
PLEASE NOTE:
All equipment, computers and software for this role can be provided by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • a demonstrated ability and experience taking high-quality photographs of people that are vibrant, well-composed, and convey a feeling or tell a story about the image's subject
  • experience editing images using software such as Adobe Lightroom or an equivalent program
  • creative mind to pitch new ideas for content that aligns with BSU brand
  • experience using professional-level cameras (such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc.)
  • experience using flash (either on- or off-camera)
  • organizational skills to maintain a searchable and functional photo library
  • knowledge of social media photo trends
  • collaborative attitude and a desire to work with other creatives

Physical Demands
The ability to carry equipment while and walking/traveling around campus.
