Overview

MLS Media Operations is looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Production Technology to join the team. The Media Operations department oversees a number of processes & technologies that underpin core league products. We operate with the goal of continually increasing quality, reliability, and efficiency in the day-to-day of our organization and clubs. This person will be focused on understanding and assisting in managing multiple items including, but not limited to, our MAM platforms, ingest and delivery workflows, IPTV systems, file delivery solutions, cloud technologies, and live production technology. We wear many different hats while providing guidance and solutions to others within the organization, mainly through leveraging our technological expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with metadata management, workflows, and various technologies related to our media asset management systems.
  • Assist with managing our IPTV system infrastructure & programming
  • Create and/or maintain documentation related to the successful operation of various systems
  • Assist with the creation, organization, and safekeeping of matchday media assets
  • Assist in managing the various production platforms
  • Assist in managing the fiber and IP-based transmission infrastructure
  • Assist with media recording infrastructure
  • Manage, track, and distribute hardware to recipients
  • Assist with supporting content capture during MLS events

Education and Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree
  • 7+ years of industry experience
Qualifications
  • Understanding of MacOS & Windows operating systems
  • Experience with industry standard audio/video/photo use cases, formats, and specifications
  • Experience with industry standard A/V editing software (ex: Adobe, Avid, etc.)
  • Experience with video encoding
  • Basic experience with IP based signal transmission (UDP, SRT, RTMP, HLS)
  • Experience with MAM platforms such as Avid, Dalet, CatDV, Imagen, Mediabank, etc.
  • Experience using file transfer solutions such as FTP, Box, Dropbox, Aspera, Signiant
  • High-level of commitment to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as well as occasional travel for events

Desired Skills:

  • Basic understanding of cloud technologies (ex. AWS, Azure, GCS, Wasabi)
  • Basic understanding of computer networking. (ex: 2110, IP addresses, firewalls, Multicast/Unicast, etc.)
  • Basic soccer knowledge & interest in the sport
  • Basic experience with video routing solutions
  • Experience in delivering media assets to cloud-based platforms utilizing media + sidecar workflows
  • Experience with live & non-live content production โ€“ studio and/or field
  • Experience with traditional broadcast technology such as video replay, audio mixers, video switchers, graphics solutions.
