Job description

Position Summary
This position is responsible for identifying appropriate experiments for undergraduate and graduate Architecture, Design and the Arts instructional laboratories, including laboratory set-up, support and maintenance. Develop lab policies for all of the instructional labs in the College.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recommend, implement and oversee the set-up of laboratory tests and experiments for graduate and undergraduate instructional laboratories in industrial design, architecture, art other related topics.
  • Design, develop, construct and demonstrate equipment needed for instructional laboratories.
  • Assist in updating laboratory manuals based on professor/course requirements.
  • Train Teaching Assistants on conducting instructional labs with students.
  • Evaluate need for new equipment, make recommendations and advise on procurement process.
  • Evaluate laboratory equipment, examine and document performance.
  • Oversee the procurement of laboratory equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Train faculty and students on proper procedures and lab safety.
  • Develop and manage the use and safety policies for all the instructional labs in the College (Project, Fabrication, Photo, Sculpture, Moving Image, New Media, Digital, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, etc.).
  • Advise and assist in the development and execution of capital improvement projects involving the labs and instructional facilities.
  • Manage lab access for students and faculty; maintain records.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
