Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Specialty Inspectors, LLC is currently looking for energetic, driven, and hardworking individuals to join our growing team. The Rating Field Inspector (RFI) is responsible for performing measurements, verifications, inspections, quality assurance examinations, and energy testing for residential homes and their applicable equipment and systems. The work includes, but is not limited to, performing the following tests and inspections: Adequate Airflow Verification, Building Air Leakage Measurement, Duct Leakage Measurement, Fan Efficacy Verification, Hot Water System Distribution Verification, HVAC Equipment Efficiency Rating Verification Quality Insulation Installation & Air Infiltration Sealing Inspection, Whole House Fan Measurement, Refrigerant Charge Verification, and Solar PV Shade Analysis. Additionally, the RFI is responsible for documenting observed conditions and processing assessment reports. This is a field-based position and travel within the assigned area is required.

Prospective applicants must have keen attention to detail, be self-driven, be able to read blueprints and construction documents, understand construction methods and best practices, work independently, work on multiple projects concurrently, and produce accurate results while meeting deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works directly with Specialty Inspectors' central scheduling team to complete home inspections as determined by the projects' scope of work

  • Completes field inspections, and collects data and photo documentation on assigned projects to document scope of work compliance, which may include compliance with building codes, voluntary programs, and quality construction practices

  • Works with builder clients and their trade subcontractors to help troubleshoot primary cause of any issues found during field inspections

  • Must complete all inspections per the RESNET guidelines

  • Works with and provides training for the client's field and trade personnel on Specialty Inspector's software platform

  • Assists with customer complaint resolution and documentation per company policy

  • Communicates project status, updates, and changes to our central scheduling team

  • Meets all applicable code/ISO/certification compliance requirements

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with internal cross-departmental teams, clients, and other stakeholders

  • Attend continuing education training sessions, including voluntary, mandatory, and those required to maintain certifications

  • Submit timely and accurate mileage, job costing, and other financial reporting

  • Monitor, review, and respond to all communication (email, phone, voicemail) in a timely manner

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

  • Adhere to company communication standards

  • Timely and accurate submittal of all mileage and other financial reports

  • Maintain and protects all company equipment and supplies

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Perform virtual inspections as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer and technology skills (i.e.: Cameras, Smart Phones, Tough Pads, Tablet computers, specific computer programs necessary for the position, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Thorough understanding of local Building Codes and regulations

  • Ability to describe in detail observations made at a job site

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; walk, bend, reach, and climb in a job site setting

  • Ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Current RESNET Rater, Rating Field Inspector (RFI) Certification, or ability to obtain certification within 3 months from date of hire

  • Previous experience as Energy Auditor, HVAC installation or HVAC service technician preferred

  • Current driver's license, clean driving record
