Job description

Mechanical Systems Inspector – Bull Run Filtration Facility

Gresham, Oregon | Relocation Assistance Available

Build the Future of Water Infrastructure

Atlas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Inspector to support construction of the Bull Run Filtration Facility, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most significant water infrastructure projects. This state-of-the-art facility will provide a resilient drinking water filtration system serving the greater Portland region for generations to come.

In this role, you will perform inspections of mechanical systems including process piping, pumps, valves, tanks, and treatment equipment to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong field presence, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, engineers, technicians, and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect process piping, pumps, valves, treatment equipment, foundations, supports, and restraints.
  • Verify installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Witness and document hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, equipment startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals to support inspection activities.
  • Document non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily reports, field documentation, and photo records.
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings, hold points, and quality reviews.
  • Monitor contractor quality control activities and support project commissioning efforts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical inspection or construction experience.
  • Experience on water, wastewater, heavy civil, or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and isometrics.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment installation, piping systems, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with AWWA, ASTM, and ASME standards preferred.
  • Experience with welding inspection or CWI certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass background check, MVR review, and drug screening.
