Animal Photographer

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a part-time Animal Photographer to support weekend coverage, working Fridays from 7 AM –11 AM and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 AM–3 PM at our Papago Park Campus. A Day in the Life:

As a part time Photographer on our award winning team, you'll help homeless pets shine by capturing personality filled images that support their journey to a loving home. Your day will start with transporting pets safely from their kennels to the studio, photographing and editing portraits of adoptable animals from dogs and cats to the occasional small critter and uploading them into our shelter software. You'll collaborate with teammates across three campuses to manage pet flow, maintain accurate records, and guide volunteers assisting in the studio. Beyond traditional portraits, you may also shoot editorial style images with our Animal Rescue Team or document fundraising events on-site and at partner locations, working in a variety of settings and lighting conditions to highlight the lifesaving work happening across the Arizona Humane Society.

Job Requirements:

  • High schooldiploma/GED required.
  • 3–5 years of professional or significant amateur photography experience.
  • Ability to develop creative concepts and capture the essence and personality of pets.
  • Strong photo editing skills; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and similar tools.
  • Comfortable working with animals and open to learning shelter operations, animal handling, and related software.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Willing to work weekends plus a partial weekday, with travel between three campuses and occasional event venues.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize in fast-paced environments, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable directing volunteers and staff.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to hear above the sound of the animals.

There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air conditioned and heated office environment.
