Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, the Media Specialist will be responsible for producing high-quality video and photographic content that captures client narratives and enhances their brand presence for Wood Buffalo Media Group (WBMG).

The incumbent will be a versatile visual storyteller; required to utilize a blend of technical skill, creative vision, and post-production expertise.

The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision, and values of WBMG, while ensuring compliance with established Policies and Procedures.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, shoot, and produce engaging video content for various client needs, including promotional videos, event coverage, interviews, and industrial documentation (e.g., time-lapse).
  • Conduct professional photo shoots for headshots, events, product photography, and on-site project documentation, ensuring high-resolution and brand-aligned imagery.
  • Expertly edit video footage and photographs, including color grading, sound design, motion graphics, and retouching, to deliver polished, professional final assets.
  • Maintain and manage all video and photography equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition and up-to-date.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail across digital content.
  • Maintain organized digital asset libraries.
  • Support emerging digital engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute ideas to improve digital presence and customer engagement.
  • Support analytics tracking and reporting as digital initiatives expand; and,
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Diploma in Digital Media or related field is required.
  • Five (5) years of experience in professional video production and photography, with a strong, diverse portfolio showcasing both disciplines, is required.
  • A combination of relevant post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License and a clean drivers abstract are required.
  • Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Proficient in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
  • Strong understanding of lighting, composition, audio recording, and camera operation.
  • Creative vision, technical proficiency, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Work with the Digital Media Manager to bring campaigns to life.
  • Ability to develop new processes and drive process improvements with clear, and improvement results.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to provide constructive feedback, and a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite applications; and,
