Job description

Job Title: Phlebotomist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to join our team, working 40 hours a week. The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting laboratory specimens through venous, arterial, or capillary punctures to assist in assessing patients' medical conditions. A solid understanding of human anatomy and physiology, along with knowledge of laboratory operations and specimen collection techniques, is essential.

The Phlebotomist will interact positively with patients and healthcare professionals, even in potentially stressful situations. Responsibilities include conducting waived testing, maintaining quality management and safety programs, and interpreting the technical acceptability of test results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect laboratory specimens following established protocols with limited supervision.
  • Perform waived laboratory tests and ensure strict adherence to safety and infection control procedures.
  • Assess patients' conditions and determine the appropriate specimen collection methods while prioritizing their well-being.
  • Operate laboratory information systems and computers as needed.
  • Consult with supervisors when necessary to ensure the best course of action is taken.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Age Requirements: 

        Required: Must be 19 years of age or older  

Experience:

  • Required: None.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience in phlebotomy.

Additional Requirements:

  • Upon hire, provide a copy of your Immunization Record and disclose your current influenza immunization.
  • All offers of employment are subject to a background check and drug screen.
