Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit requiring compact or NC RN license, ACLS, NIHSS, and at least 12 months of recent Med/Tele experience.

Details
  • Cardiac Telemetry unit within a 337-bed hospital that is a Chest Pain and Stroke Center
  • 34-bed unit with an average census of 32 patients
  • Patient population includes ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, diabetes/DKA, wounds, and acute/chronic renal failure
  • RN to patient ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with critical surge up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Rover communication, and Hoyer lift equipment
  • Floating required within region and scope of practice to Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, Levine Children's Hospital)
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech support available on the unit
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
  • General med/surg skillset including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to a med/surg telemetry patient population including tube/drain management, wound care, and IV therapy
  • Work alongside a robust support team including CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, dedicated pharmacist, case managers, clinical nurse specialist, respiratory therapy, nurse educator, and 24/7 hospitalist coverage
  • Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
  • New unit that opened in January 2025 with a welcoming, psychologically safe, and just/fair culture
  • Free parking available onsite
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Traveler's permanent address must be more than 50 miles from the home unit; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
  • When floating mid-shift, travel time between facilities is compensated as on-the-clock time
