Job Description

The Centre of Excellence (CoE) within AVPN’s Programmes team functions as a critical enabler to mobilise capital more efficiently, effectively, and at scale. The CoE provides technical support, knowledge and learning, innovation, and dedicated communications and events coordination. The Senior Associate, Programme Communications and Events sits within the CoE and serves as the strategic communications focal point for AVPN's programmatic portfolio. Distinct from AVPN's Marketing & Communications (Marcomms) function, this role is responsible for translating programme outcomes, partnerships, and ecosystem insights into compelling communications that strengthen thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and programme visibility across AVPN's thematic priorities, including Climate, Health, Gender, and Economic Inclusion. Working closely with Programme Leads, the Marketing Communications team, and external partners, the role will establish consistent communication protocols, ensure cohesive messaging across programme outputs, coordinate strategic events and convenings, and amplify programme impact through high-quality storytelling, media engagement, and knowledge dissemination. The role will help position AVPN as a trusted regional leader in social investment by elevating programme insights, showcasing partner impact, and supporting ecosystem collaboration.

Responsibilities

Strategic Programme Communications (in coordination with Marcomms)

  • Develop and coordinate Programme communications strategies that strengthen visibility, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement across AVPN's programme portfolios
  • Translate programme outcomes, research, partnerships and learning into strategic communications that support fundraising, partnership development, ecosystem influence and knowledge dissemination
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, positioning and language across Programme reports, concept notes, toolkits, publications, webpages, presentations and external communications while aligning with AVPN's brand and communications standards
  • Work closely with Programme teams and Marcomms to identify strategic communications opportunities that elevate Programme priorities and organisational objectives
  • Maintain oversight of Programme communications calendars, publication pipelines and major announcements to ensure coordinated delivery across teams
Thought Leadership & Storytelling
  • Work with Programme teams, funders, grantees and partners to identify, document and amplify high-quality case studies, success stories and lessons learned
  • Support Programme leads in developing thought leadership articles, speeches, opinion pieces, presentations and strategic messaging for conferences, convenings and external engagements
  • Identify opportunities to leverage partner communication platforms, media channels and ecosystem networks to expand the reach and influence of programme outputs
  • Contribute to positioning AVPN as a recognised thought leader in social investment and philanthropy across Asia
Programme Event Stakeholder Engagement
  • Coordinate communications and engagement strategies for programme events, learning exchanges and convenings
  • Develop integrated communications plans before, during and after programme events to maximise stakeholder engagement and programme visibility
  • Coordinate with Programme teams, partners and the Marcomms team to ensure programme events are strategically aligned with AVPN's wider engagement priorities
  • Support partner engagement through invitations, speaker coordination, briefing materials, event messaging and post-event communications
  • Maintain visibility over programme event calendars to improve coordination across thematic portfolios and identify opportunities for cross-programme collaboration
  • Develop editorial calendars for programme-led publications, insights and opinion pieces
  • Identify opportunities for programmes to contribute to regional policy and industry conversations through external publications and strategic media partnerships
Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement
  • Support Programme teams to build collaborative relationships with funders, implementation partners, grantees and ecosystem stakeholders to amplify programme communications
  • Identify opportunities for joint communications campaigns, publications and ecosystem storytelling that showcase collective impact
  • Support Programme teams in developing communications approaches that strengthen partner engagement and visibility
  • Support Programmes teams during selected meetings, workshops and external engagements where appropriate
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, communications, journalism, public policy, development studies, or marketing
  • Prior experience in project management, advocacy, programme communications, editorial review, or cross-functional coordination, ideally within the philanthropy, development sector, or social impact space
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to serve as an internal editorial reviewer and translate complex programme information into accessible formats
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and timelines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Familiarity with digital communications, content management systems and social media platforms
  • Proficiency in G-Suite or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with
  • CRM systems like Salesforce is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn continuously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to learn new things, have superior organisation skills, and strong attention to detail (e.g., data cleaning)
