Location: Faribault, Minnesota (Rice County)

Overview:
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are seeking a Farm Bill Wildlife Biologist in Rice County, Minnesota, to support the organization's mission of enhancing wildlife habitat through conservation programs. This position will work in joint capacity with USDA-NRCS and other partners to promote, implement, and coordinate enrollment in conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill and related programs, helping strengthen working lands conservation across the region.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to private landowners, government agencies, non-government organizations, and other groups through federal Farm Bill programs.
  • Prepare conservation plans, implementation requirements, status reviews, wildlife habitat evaluation guides, activity reports, and other relevant work products and documents requiring biological expertise.
  • Communicate program requirements and conduct contract coordination, site assessments, eligibility determinations, and training sessions for landowners and resource professionals.
  • Accelerate conservation program enrollment and public awareness by conducting outreach.
  • Meet with local PF & QF chapters and other local partners to coordinate and support habitat management efforts and participate in local and statewide habitat meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in wildlife management or a closely related natural resources field
  • Preferred experience with Farm Bill programs, ArcPro, Prescribed Fire Training, wildlife ecology, and agricultural landscapes
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be able to obtain USDA Federal Security Clearance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agency staff
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
Salary Range: $45,000 to $52,000 (commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience) with annual performance-based raises and the following benefits:

  • Student Loan Assistance program of up to $200/month for eligible employees.
  • Paid Time Off accrued at 15 days (120 hours) per year for new employees.
