The program typically involves both coursework and original research leading to a dissertation.

What jobs can I do with a PhD in science?

A PhD in vision science qualifies individuals for research scientist roles in academia, industry, or government agencies, focusing on visual perception, eye health, or imaging technologies. Graduates can also work in product development, clinical research, or as science consultants, often utilizing advanced analytical tools and experimental methods. These positions typically require strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with scientific publishing and grant writing.

The PhD is research-oriented, often in labs or academia, while optometrists work directly with patients in clinical settings.

What jobs can you get with a master's in Vision Science?

A master's in Vision Science can qualify you for roles such as optometric technician, vision researcher, or clinical research coordinator. These positions often involve working in eye care clinics, research labs, or healthcare settings, utilizing skills in visual assessment, data analysis, and patient interaction.

What is the highest paying optometry specialty?

In the field of vision science, the highest paying optometry specialty is often ocular disease and medical optometry, which involves diagnosing and managing complex eye conditions. These specialists typically work in hospitals or clinics and may require additional training or certification, leading to higher compensation compared to general optometry.
