Purpose:

The iSTAR Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to lead advanced research at one or a combination of the following areas: Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), Trustworthy AI, cybersecurity, and Next-Generation Networks. The successful candidate will work on federally funded projects (e.g., NSF, DHS, or DoD) focused on developing resilient-by-design architectures for critical infrastructure and autonomous systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Research Leadership: Design and implement novel methods within the research directions of the lab and areas of the candidate expertise.
  • Grant Development: Assist PI in identifying funding opportunities and drafting technical proposals for federal and industrial sponsors.
  • Publication & Dissemination: Lead the authoring of high-impact journal articles (IEEE, ACM) and present research findings at flagship conferences.
  • Mentorship: Co-supervise Ph.D. and Master's students, providing technical guidance on theoretical frameworks, experimental setups and theoretical proofs.
  • Testbed Development and Management: Oversee the development, management and utilization of lab testbeds, including smart grid co-simulations, CPS robotics, Software Defined Radios (SDRs), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), etc.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the lab partners outside of Texas A&M and across the Texas A&M system, including Global Cyber Research Institute (GCRI), and Texas A&M Institute of Data Science, and Smart Grid Center, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, AI, networked systems, at least one type of cyber-physical systems.
  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling (Game Theory, Optimization, or Control Theory).
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, C++, and MATLAB.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications.
