The School of Biological Sciences at Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty position in Nutrition and Dietetics. We welcome candidates in any area of nutrition and dietetics or closely related field. The Nutrition and Dietetics program in the School of Biological Sciences includes an ACEND-accredited undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a post-baccalaureate ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship. The successful candidate will serve as the Nutrition and Dietetics graduate program coordinator while collaborating with faculty across all Nutrition and Dietetics programs. The School of Biological Sciences offers undergraduate degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, Medical Laboratory Science, and Nutrition and Dietetics as well as MS degrees in Biology, Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology (MSNT), and Nutrition and Dietetics, and a PhD degree in MSNT. In total, the School enrolls approximately 650 undergraduate students and 25-35 graduate students.
Position: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences
Location: Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, Louisiana
Department: School of Biological Sciences
Start Date: September 1, 2027
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the nutrition and dietetics graduate program coordinator, including graduate recruitment, advising, assessment, curriculum development, and continuous program improvement.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition and dietetics consistent with the candidate's expertise and departmental needs.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in their academic and professional development.
  • Maintain a program of scholarship appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment that engages students when appropriate.
  • Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities, including student recruitment, committee work, and outreach to the profession and community.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A PhD from an accredited university in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Public Health or closely related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate course credits in Nutrition.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and eligible for licensure in the state of Louisiana.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Clinical, community, industry, or other professional practice experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
  • Experience with ACEND accreditation or other academic assessment processes.
  • Experience with graduate education, including teaching, advising, mentoring, or program coordination.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching and scholarly activity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and professional service.
