About the role
D-Wave is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QEC Software Engineer to co-design, validate, and test infrastructure for QEC. In addition, the selected candidate will also perform simulations and resource estimation for practical applications with state-of-the-art fault-tolerant implementations.
What you'll do
  • Collaborate with physicists and other QEC specialists to develop, simulate, and experimentally validate QEC codes
  • Implement robust software components, integrate them into D-Wave's software stack, and write comprehensive tests
  • Work with stakeholders on both near- and long-term quantum computing applications including error correction resource estimation for practical problems
  • Write clean, well-documented code and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and maintainability
  • Provide software mentorship and guidance on best practices and help drive adherence to software best practices

About You
  • MS or PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with a specialization in quantum computing
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience with C, C++, Python, or another general-purpose compiled programming language
  • 3+ Quantum computing or quantum information experience including at least one modern quantum SDK such as Qiskit, Q#, CUDA-Q, or Stim
  • Competence with Git version control, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Use of software testing principles and practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
