Job description

Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate - Brain Cancer Epigenomics
Division: Pediatrics
Work Arrangement: Onsite only
Location: Houston, TX
Salary Range: $62,232 - $64,356
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Summary
The Postdoctoral Associate will perform independent research on pediatric brain tumors in the Gallo lab. The Postdoctoral Associate will have experience with bioinformatics and computational biology and will be able to guide and supervise the work of other staff and trainees in the lab. Postdoctoral Associate must have a solid knowledge of the biological principles driving brain tumors, and proven experience with implementation of bioinformatics (single-cell genomics, epigenomic platforms, mutation analyses).
Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.
Job Duties
  • Integrates several data types that includes, for instance, single-cell transcriptomic and epigenomic data to generate hypotheses that will be tested functionally, using tumor models.
  • Discovers a putative important role for a gene.
  • Follows up with collaborative functional experiments that will test whether removing/turning off that gene has any effects on behavior and phenotypes of cancer models.
  • Supervises daily activities by trainees (graduate students, other postdoctoral fellows) and staff (lab technicians).
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in informatics-related fields and/or biological sciences.
  • Post doctoral Associate less than 5 year from date of Ph.D. conferral date.
  • Experience with implementation of bioinformatics (single-cell genomics, epigenomic platforms, mutation analyses).
  • Has solid knowledge of the principles driving brain tumors biology.
