Secondary Social Studies Teacher (High School, lower level classes)

Application Deadline:  Open Until Filled
Certification/License: Must hold a Colorado Teaching License with Secondary Social Studies endorsement or have the ability to obtain prior to start date. Must meet highly qualified requirements for teaching assignment.

Education: Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments.

Experience: Successful prior teaching experience preferred. 
Compensation:  Salary is regionally competitive and based on experience and training.
Work Schedule: 4 day school week (145 student days, 160 total contract)



Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions 

  • Develops and administers Social Studies curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. 
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop unit organization, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction. 
  • Teaches knowledge of social studies, incorporating history, geography, economics, political science, systems of government, education, responsible citizenship, and humanities. 
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
